Arlene Phillips hints at a return to Strictly after being fired from judging panel 15 years ago

ARLENE Phillips has teased a shock return to Strictly Come Dancing – 15 years after she was axed from the judging panel.

Following her departure from Strictly in 2009 Arlene, 81, claimed she only found out when a radio show called asking for her thoughts on the shake-up.

Arlene had been an original judge ont he show, alongside Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.

But she was replaced by Alesha Dixon, who lifted the Glitterball trophy in 2007.

Despite this it seems there’s no hard feelings on Arlene’s part as she’s suggested she could make a return to the BBC One competition.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun at the Pride of Britain Awards, she said: “I’ve been filming something today, which will be coming out soon and is hilarious.

“It’s something to do with dancing.”

When asked if she has any plans for a Strictly comeback, Arlene teased: “Maybe a little chat…”

Earlier this year Arlene discussed the impact being fired from the show had on her.

She told The Guardian: “More than knocking my confidence, I think it swirled around me, and I thought, ‘I need to find myself.’

“I needed all the mental preparation that I could muster to go, ‘Hang on a minute – you had a big career before this and you’ve got work lined up’.

“I was a grown-up when I did that show, so I resent that the BBC didn’t come to me as soon as they had the thought.”

Alesha quit after the 2011 series and was replaced by Darcey Bussell.

The current judging panel is made up of Craig, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.
