‘It’s been a very overwhelming few days’ Megan McKenna admits she ‘looks like the walking dead’ after becoming a mum

MEGAN McKenna has been nothing but candid since giving birth to her first son, Landon and recently revealed to fans she was overwhelmed.

Once known as Mental Megs after her fiery temper left her having blazing rows on The Only Way is Essex, now she’s ditched the drama for cooking gluten-free dishes and becoming a doting mum.

But the 31-year-old has admitted that being a mum to a newborn for the first time hasn’t been without challenges.

Taking to Instagram, Megan who is of course in love with her son Landon, revealed some of the difficulties she’s faced.

Updating fans on social media, she said: “Also sorry I’ve been quiet, it’s been a very overwhelming few days and Landon has been so uncomfortable with his tummy which means no sleep for me.”

Thankfully Megan revealed he was doing a lot better now but the same couldn’t be said for her.

“He’s been a lot better today but I basically look like the walking dead right now haha,” she added.

The excited new mum also revealed she would soon be giving fans a behind-the-scenes of her birth and first few days at home in a YouTube video.

The 31-year-old gave birth in Germany as she moved there to be with her fiance as he played for German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.

After announcing his name, she revealed that Landon was born on October 7 at 8.33am, weighing 9lbs 2oz.

While Megan is loving her new life as a mum she has previously opened up about other challenges she has faced after giving birth – making many mums around the world feel less alone.

Megan, who is choosing to breastfeed her son spoke of the beautiful bonding moment while also being real on how difficult it can be.

She said: “He’s latched onto my boobies so good, and I have to say, it’s the most beautiful and painful thing I’ve ever experienced at the same time. The first days latch wasn’t right and caused some nipple damage so it’s taking some time to get them back healthy.

“I’m fighting through the razor blades and it’s easing off by the day.”

The new mum added that her recovery has been slow with her feet still swollen ‘like Shrek.’

Many fans have taken to the comments on her recent Instagram posts to congratulate her and thank her for being so open about her motherhood journey.

How Megan managed to find her happily ever after

Megan McKenna’s journey through fame has been a rollercoaster of highs, lows, reinventions, and triumphs – and that has turned out to be the recipe to her success.
Few reality stars have owned that fiery temper, no-nonsense attitude and combined with her gorgeous looks she became instantly memorable when she joined Towie in 2016.
But the darker side of fame took its toll and it would be years before she could shake off her hothead reputation.
Megan had several infamous meltdowns, some on Celebrity Big Brother, but often involving dramatic rows with then-boyfriend Pete Wicks. These were the iconic reality moments that made her tabloid fodder.
Her decision to step away from reality TV and focus on music was a bold move, even bolder was her new look.
At the height of her reality TV fame she embraced the glamorous Towie aesthetic – think lip filler, heavy make-up, big hair and sky-high heels.
After quitting Towie Megan stripped everything back, dissolved her fillers and – as you do when you’re getting over a bloke – she got an edgy bleached fringe hair do.
But she faced skepticism from the public and the music industry alike, who questioned whether she could be taken seriously as a singer after years in the reality TV world.
She persisted, even travelling to Nashville to hone her craft and work with seasoned country music producers.
Fans fell in love with her newfound confidence, and winning the spin-off X Factor Celebrity series was a massive seal of approval from them.
A slot at Glastonbury was another jaw-dropping achievement that nobody expected from the Towie star from Essex.
Her latest transformation into becoming a mum has been just as amazing for her fans to see, especially because she has been so honest about her health battles and IVF journey.
Her honest daily updates on Instagram keep her in the public eye and I have no doubt that she’ll embrace this new chapter in her life and succeed as she has done many times before.
