Lidia Thorpe unleashes on King Charles during welcome ceremony: ‘Give us our land back’

Senator Lidia Thorpe interrupted King Charles' speech in Parliament

Senator Lidia Thorpe has interrupted King Charles’ speech in Parliament with a vile rant after ending his speech praising Australia.

Senator Thorpe shouted ‘f**k the colony’ and ‘you are not my king’.

“You have committed genocide against our people,” she shouted, dressed in a native fur coat.

‘Give us our country back. Give us what you stole from us.

“Our bones, our skulls, our babies, our people. You have destroyed our country.

‘Give us our treaties. We want a treaty in this country. You are a genocide plotter. This is not your country, this is not your country.’

She then repeatedly shouted, “Not my king,” before being led into the room by security.

Earlier, Senator Thorpe turned her back as the Australian national anthem was played.

Earlier in the day, Senator Thorpe was almost arrested while protesting King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit to Canberra.

The clash with police took place during an Indigenous protest outside the Australian War Memorial.

A group of about 20 Indigenous protesters stationed themselves outside the Memorial and chanted ‘always was, always will be Aboriginal land’.

The group was far away from where the king and queen appeared.

Ms Thorpe was seen arguing with a police officer who held her shirt.

She then took off her shirt and stormed away from the officer.

“Everything we suffer in this country is due to that colonial invasion,” she said after the fight.

The outspoken Indigenous senator is an outspoken critic of the monarchy and the British invasion of the Australian continent.

In a statement released Monday, Senator Thorpe said the British crown and King Charles should be prosecuted for “genocide.”

She also said a treaty with Indigenous Australians “must be central” to any move towards a republic.

She said First Nations Australians should play a key role in rewriting the Constitution, and a charter of rights should be created to enshrine the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

“There is unfinished business that we need to resolve before this country can become a republic,” she said.

‘This must be done through the Treaty. We can now move towards a Treaty Republic. The two processes are not opposed to each other, they are complementary.’

“As First Nations, we have never ceded our sovereignty over this land. The Crown invaded this land, did not seek a treaty with the First Nations, and committed a genocide of our people. King Charles is not the legitimate sovereign of these countries.”
