NLCS Champions: Dodgers advance to the World Series with 10-5 win over Mets

The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading to the 2024 World Series.

In a 10-5 home win over the Mets on Sunday, the Dodgers claimed their 25th National League pennant, besting New York 4 games to 2 in the series.

Shortstop Tommy Edman played a significant role in Los Angeles seizing game six with 4 RBIs, a double and a home run, all before the fifth inning.

Edman’s first-inning double drove in two runs to pull the score into their favor with a 2-1 lead. His homer brought in two more runs in the third inning, followed by another two-run homer from catcher Will Smith – launching the score to 6-1.

The Mets climbed up two runs in the fourth inning, but Shohei Ohtani later stretched out their lead with an RBI in the sixth. New York combatted the jump with one more run in the seventh.

The eighth inning, however, pumped some more adrenaline in the stands with Mookie Betts’ double, Teoscar Hernández’s sac-fly and Kike Hernández’s single, bringing the Dodgers’ score to 10-4.

The champions held the score at 10-5 after a Mets run in the ninth to stake out their NLCS title.

The Dodgers will meet the New York Yankees in the World Series for the first time since 1981 in game one on Oct. 25 at home in Los Angeles.
