(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A Colorado Springs man has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting deaths of his wife and infant son in 2022.
David Weingarten was found guilty of shooting and killing 26-year-old Lizet Salinas-Mijangos and their eight-month-old son, George Weingarten.
Arrest documents said Weingarten called police after the shooting in February of 2022 and said he had quote “been hearing things” and something came over him. There was a second child inside the home at the time, the couple’s 20-month-old daughter, but she was not hurt.
Weingarten was found guilty of multiple charges on Oct. 17, including First Degree Murder, First Degree Murder of a Child under 12 by One in a Position of Trust, Child Abuse, and Reckless Endangerment.
