Tottenham vs West Ham PLAYER RATINGS: Who was ‘exposed for pace’ in the Hammers defence? Which Spurs star was the ‘best attacker on the pitch’? And who is given just a 4/10?

Tottenham Hotspur defeated London rivals West Ham United in the Premier League in an action-packed derby on Saturday.

The Hammers opened the scoring against the run of play in the 18th minute when Mohammed Kudus scored his second goal of the season.

But Spurs hit back emphatically and won 4-1 thanks to goals from Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma, Son Heung-min and an own goal from Alphonse Areola.

Kudus was sent off late in the match for violent conduct after kicking Micky van de Ven and then shoving his hands in Pape Matar Sarr’s face.

Tottenham (4-3-3)

Guglielmo Vicario 6.5 – Made a fantastic save from Kudus in the first half, but could do nothing about the attacker’s subsequent attack. He was a spectator for most of the second half.

Pedro Porro 6.5 – I wanted to get forward at every opportunity and came close with a few long-range attacks. Gave Kudus too much time at times, but overall a solid afternoon.

Cristian Romero 6.5 – Didn’t seem concerned for much of this match, even though his team fell behind against the run of play. Led from the back and made some smart passes.

Micky van de Ven 6 (Booked) – Good in possession and ensured that Antonio did not get an inch in the Spurs penalty area. Received a yellow card during an altercation with Kudus.

Lot Udogie 6 – Was beaten too easily by Bowen for the opening goal, but redeemed himself with an excellent assist for Yves Bissouma’s goal in the second half.

Yves Bissouma7 – Repaying his manager for bringing him back into the team with a fine finish for the second goal. Neatly in possession of the ball and kept his team running.

Dejan Kulusevski 8 – His goal brought Tottenham back into the game and his clever pass set up the third goal. He always looked like he was creating a chance and was Tottenham’s best attacking player on the pitch.

James Madison6 – Had a bit of a frustrating first half before helping Tottenham level by assisting Kulusevksi’s equalizer. He was substituted at half-time and didn’t seem too happy when he came out to watch the second half.

Brennan Johnson 6.5 – Couldn’t continue his good goalscoring form and missed a few good chances. But on the right wing he was always a threat and gave Emerson a tough afternoon.

Dominic Solanke 6.5 – No goal for the striker today, but he worked tirelessly for his team and his tackle on Paqueta scored the equalizer.

Son Heung-min 7.5 – Struggled to make things happen in the first half, but came alive in the second. His cleared shot was converted into his own net for a third time by Todibo, before a fine solo run and finish sealed the fourth.

Administrator: Ange Postecoglou 7 – Must have been worried when his team fell behind, but they responded brilliantly. An excellent second half in which all three points were taken.

Westham (4-1-4-1)

Alfonso Areola 5 – Made some important saves in the first half but will feel he could have done better for Kulusevski’s equalizer. Spurs’ third goal was his own after tangling with Todibo. His distribution remains a bit concerning, with some wayward passes.

Aaron Wan Bissaka 6 – A solid first half with some key tackles and it also looked like West Ham would join in on the counter-attacks. Could do little to stop the defensive collapse in the second.

Jean-Clair Todibo 5 – Had a solid first half but was one of many West Ham players to struggle in the second. He got tangled up in Areola and eventually diverted the ball to his goalkeeper for Tottenham’s third goal, only to be beaten too easily by Son for the fourth goal.

Max Kilman5 – Noticed that he was off pace a few times, but needed more help from those around him. Should look to take on more of a leadership role in the back four.

Emerson 5 – Given a tough afternoon for Johnson, which prevented him from getting into the attack. Was caught out of position as Tottenham scored the third.

Guido Rodriguez6 – A solid first half, but couldn’t maintain it in the second. Was the best of the three midfielders and needed more help from Paqueta.

Jarrod Bowen6.5 – Took the beating from Udogie and caused full back problems several times in the first half. Assisted Kudus’ goal and probably could have gotten another if the teammate had been more clinical.

Tomas Soucek 5 – A rather anonymous afternoon for the Czech midfielder, who seriously disappeared from the match when his team was down at the start of the second half.

Lucas Paqueta 4 (booked) -Caught in possession for Tottenham’s equalizer and gave the ball away on halfway for the third. Continues to look like he’s playing within himself.

Mohammed Kudus 5 – The afternoon had started so well when he scored the opening goal in the 18th minute, but frustration got the better of him when he saw red in the second half for a series of violent altercations with Tottenham players. Let his team down and will now miss the next three games.

Michael Antonio 5 -Received very little serve and spent more time helping his team defend than he would have liked. Dropped as his team chased the match.
