Fans Claim ‘The Simpsons’ Predicted the Severe Hurricane Milton That Recently Hit Florida

Fans of The Simpsons are saying the show predicted the severe Hurricane Milton that recently hit Florida

Simpsons, the animated show, has in the past predicted several future events and the most recent is that it had predicted the hurricanes in Florida.

The episode in question is the 1996 episode ‘Hurricane Neddy,’ which detailed how the daily life of residents of Springfield was thrown into chaos as the characters of the animated show prepared for the landfall of a major storm.

The storm depicted in the show has eerie similarities to the real-life Hurricane Milton that struck Florida earlier this month. The hurricane caused widespread devastation across the state and also precipitated more than 36 tornadoes.

The episode, which was a part of Season 8, Episode 8, depicted how the Simpson family was in a panic mode and was storing food and essentials after the hurricane warning. The hurricane caused heavy rains and massive flooding, with waters reaching the second floor and people trying to save their lives and escape in rafts.

Florida has already seen two hurricanes this season, and this is not the last one; there are chances of more tornadoes in the offing in the future. The latest Hurricane Milton has massively destroyed the infrastructure on the Western coast much akin to the ‘Hurricane Neddy’ depicted in the 1996 episode of The Simpsons.

Scenes From Simpsons Striking Similarity

Residents of Florida, especially in the Tampa Bay region, witnessed a gigantic storm surge prompting evacuation orders across multiple counties. The hurricane was a category III storm when it made landfall and caused 14 deaths, with many missing and 3.4 million homes left without power.

The similarities were first pointed out in a TikTok video by Make Your Day, and the post garnered 1.6 million views and over 40,000 likes.

Fans have also compared other episodes and have foreshadowed the sudden surge in the number of hurricanes in the Florida region in recent times.

One TikTok video explained that The Simpsons used past hurricanes to predict future ones.

‘The Simpsons already knew history repeats itself from 100 years ago,’ one TikTok video said, explaining that the show appears to use past hurricanes to predict future ones.

Another person commented,

‘I think it’s time we take The Simpsons seriously,’

However, there are some skeptics who doubt the predictions of The Simpsons.

One user commented,

‘The Simpsons don’t and have never predicted anything. It’s just a cartoon. Find me a case when they actually predicted something. You can’t,’

Milton was preceded by another equally devastating Hurricane Helene which had hit the southeast just two weeks before and had claimed 230 lives and billions of dollars in economic damage.
