Veteran car camper reveals ‘cheapest & easiest’ way to stay warm during colder months – and it only costs $6 from Amazon

A VETERAN car camper has revealed his cheapest and easiest method of keeping warm during the colder months.

A YouTuber known as Colin Adventures, who lives full-time in his car while working a regular 9-5 job, has opened up on how he stays warm while living in his vehicle with no heating.

In the video, he opens by saying that he’s preparing for “a couple of nights of cold weather”, but tells his viewers that he prefers to avoid using an electric heater or a propane heater.

Colin doesn’t use an electric heater as it needs to be plugged in, and many locations – such as the parking lot he was staying in at the time – doesn’t have anywhere to plug it in.

There’s issues around using a propane heater too, as Colin says these create a lot of moisture inside the car – a problem that he already faces with regular condensation.

Instead, Colin says that he starts up the car’s engine as soon as he finishes work, and sets the climate control to “something a little bit higher than I normally would” to make sure the interior is nice and toasty.

Colin, who lives in Washington, added: “I know idling is not really the best thing for your engine, but I actually don’t do this very regularly as I live in a very temperate climate, so there’s only a few really hot days and a few really cold days that I have to worry about.”

Coupled with his well-insulated sleeping bag, Colin says that he usually manages to stay warm all through the night.

However, one YouTube user commented on Colin’s video urging him to pick up a hot water bottle.

They said: “When leaving work, fill it up with hot water.

“Put it inside your bed as you drive to your spot to sleep for the night, works every time.”

Colin responded to the commenter with: “People keep telling me about this. Haven’t tried it yet!”

Hot water bottles are incredibly cheap to buy, with Amazon currently selling them for just $6.

This comes as drivers are urged to pay close attention to three key parts of their car as the weather begins to cool – after a long period of hot weather.

As the nation saw one of its warmest summers on record, a seasoned mechanic has shared a step-by-step guide to handling the transition to Fall.

Drivers have also been warned over making a mistake with their car’s battery that can ruin their vehicle – especially as the cooler weather begins to hit.

Thankfully, an affordable device can go a long way to help avoid a tricky situation.

In cold weather, gasoline and diesel engines will require more battery power to start, and it may even be a good idea to get your car’s battery checked and possibly replaced before winter really begins to set in.

However, expert mechanic Scotty Kilmer, who has been working on cars for over 50 years, has revealed to viewers of his famous YouTube channel how cutting the power to your car can play havoc with its computer system.
