In his viral video, the TikTok user (@twinhomeexperts) explained how to catch rats and mice using glue boards.

He talked his followers through the common mistakes people make when setting up the traps and how professionals go about it.

“First things first, the reason why you’re not catching rats on these glue boards is this, you never want to bait your glue boards,” he revealed.

The expert told his audience that bait often causes the rodents to “stop and sniff” when glue traps are designed to catch them while they’re running or scurrying.

He added that the bait can also help the rodents to escape the trap as it provides an area of the glue surface that isn’t sticky.

The TikToker recommended using unscented traps for rats and scented for mice.

According to the pest professional, the other biggest mistake people make when setting up traps is in the placement.

He explained that he often sees people “just spreading them everywhere.”

However, their is a part of every room that mice tend to preference over others.

The rodents usually stick to the sides of the floor, running along skirting boards and walls.

They prefer darker enclosed areas that provide more coverage rather than running across the middle of a room.

“They want to get to point A to point B fast so put the glue board in the centre of their runway so as they’re running down their highway, boom,” he explained.

For his final tip, the expert revealed his go-to product that will allow any homeowner to “step up their game.”

He recommended investing in a bulk glue designed for rodent glue traps.

The TikToker explained that he often uses this to top up the traps, making them even more treacherous for rodents.

More ways to catch mice

The experts at Victor Pest revealed their go-to steps for catching a mouse in your house.

  • Find the entrance and stuff with copper mesh before sealing with caulk.
  • Search for oil, which they leave as a trail to food sources, and disinfect the area.
  • Set many traps, aiming for 12 traps for every mouse spotted.
  • Mix the baits using fibrous materials female mice use to build nests as well as food.
  • Keep on trapping even after you think you’ve solved your infestation problem.
  • Secure your food by placing in sealed plastic, glass, or metal containers.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.

“Thank you! And everyone talking about it being inhumane we should send all mice to their house!” wrote one viewer.

“Best thing ever. Caught a huge rat with it in my garage. And it catches all the other crawling bugs too, win-win,” said another follower.

“Once on[ the] glue trap, I feed them to owls, they love them,” commented a third person.

“This is good! I like the black glue traps. It caught a wolf rat one time in the laundry room,” shared another TikToker.
