Kalyn went to her local Aldi store to seek out some bargains, and it’s safe to say she wasn’t disappointed.

In the clip uploaded to TikTok, the bargain hunter was joined by her partner and the duo hoped to snag enough ingredients for five dinners without breaking the bank.

The couple stocked their trolley with an array of items including bunched bananas, satsumas, beef mince, wraps and canned goods among other miscellaneous goods.

“This is everything we got from Aldi,” Kalyn said revealing the tasty haul.

“This week we’re having enchiladas, cabbage stew, chicken parm with asparagus, turkey stir fry bowls and butter curry chicken.”

Scanning her receipt, Kalyn told viewers the shop had only set her back $57.40.

STORE CLOSURE

Elsewhere, Aldi permanently shuttered store in Chicago after shoppers spotted employees “clearing out the shelves.”

The location at 1836 N. Clybourn Ave. permanently closed its doors on October 13, a company spokesperson confirmed to FOX 32 Chicago.

However, it is understood that nearby stores, including those at Clybourn Avenue, Milwaukee Avenue, and Division Street, will remain unaffected by the closure and will provide regular services to shoppers.

This includes curbside pickup and grocery delivery for customers through Instacart and DoorDash.

An Aldi spokesperson said in a statement: “ALDI will continue to provide residents great products at the lowest possible prices at our more than 30 stores across the city of Chicago, and we remain committed to making a positive impact on every community we serve.

“We strive to create an environment where our employees can thrive. We are proud to say all impacted employees have been offered a transfer to a store of their choice and no jobs will be lost.”

One shopper, who has been visiting the store for many years, said: “This location has been clearing out shelves and freezers so I asked the cashier this past weekend: ‘Is this store in trouble?’

“She laughed and said, ‘No, we’re just remodelling.’”

Another customer wrote on Facebook: “Dang. That’s the store I shop at.”

CHECK YOUR CUPBOARD

For Brits who have visited their local Aldi store lately, it may be worth scanning your groceries after hundreds of tins were recalled for health risks.

They are being recalled as they contain an allergen not listed on the back of the product, the Food Standard Agency (FSA) said.

“Our supplier is recalling The Fishmonger Soy and Ginger Fusions Tuna because the product contains an undeclared allergen (wheat),” Aldi said in a notice to customers.

Wheat contains gluten which is dangerous to those with a wheat allergy, gluten intolerance or coeliac disease.

The supermarket is asking anyone who has bought the tins to return them to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

The recall covers all 80g tins with the barcode: 4088600300276.

“We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation,” it added.

Aldi Policies

Aldi has several store policies customers should remain aware of. The U.S. Sun has compiled a short list for shoppers’ next trip to their local store.

  • Customers pay one-quarter for a cart and can get the coin back once they return it to the proper spot.
  • There are no baggers and customers typically bag their groceries or cashiers offer assistance.
  • Aldi places products in aisles with the same packaging they were shipped in by vendors to save customers money.
  • Full refunds and exchanges are given through Aldi’s Twice as Nice policy on all Aldi-brand items customers aren’t satisfied with.
  • No plastic bags are sold at any Aldi store.
  • Reusable and paper bags are offered to customers.

Around one per cent of Brits have coeliac disease but only 36 per cent are diagnosed, according to Coeliac UK.

The charity estimates around half a million people in the UK are currently undiagnosed.

Coeliac disease causes the immune system to attack the body’s own tissues when you eat gluten, which is found in wheat, barley and rye.

This damages the gut, preventing the body from taking in nutrients properly.

Symptoms include diarrhoeatummy pain and bloating, as well as indigestionconstipationtiredness, weight loss, an itchy rash, infertility or nerve damage.
