Reporter apologises to Thomas Tuchel for ‘flippant’ comment in first England press conference

THOMAS TUCHEL has already received his first apology from the media in his first press conference as England manager.

Tuchel’s passionate first words as the new Three Lions boss was met with an inadvertent flippant “good luck” remark.

Tuchel ended his speech with: “I’d like to add another star to the badge.”

Before a reporter quickly added: “Good luck”.

The quip caused a moment of awkwardness before the journalist read the room and speedily apologised, saying: “Sorry that was flippant.”

The moment seemed completely accidental as the reporter was turning to speak to new England assistant coach Anthony Barry.
