Who is LaMorris Sellers?
LaMorris Sellers is the husband of the late Atlanta radio personality Wanda Smith.
He has maintained a relatively-low profile.
But LaMorris became known to the public due to an incident involving comedian Katt Williams in 2018.
The 2018 incident
Katt Williams appeared on Wanda’s morning radio show in 2018.
The 20-minute interview posted on YouTube quickly went viral, becoming V-103’s most-watched clip of all time.
Katt and Wanda had a heated verbal exchange, with him saying she was a “poor interviewer” who kept interrupting him.
The duo were able to laugh things off for a few minutes, but near the end of the show Wanda made an off-hand remark about Katt’s hair.
“My hair is 19 inches long and I have no perm. Come run one of your gnarled fingers through it,” he responded.
He then took his hat and headphones off to show off his hairstyle before asking if Wanda’s “headphones and wig come together”.
Wanda told Katt to “take off them old-a** clothes you got on,” prompting him to open his jacket and show viewers a designer label on the inside.
With a stunned look, Katt said: “She might want to apologize to the people at Versace collections, since [I’m wearing] your 2019 summer line that hasn’t come out [to the general public yet].”
The spat continued, with Katt making comments about Wanda’s weight and the host retaliating with a jab about prison.
Wanda also called Katt “lil’ mama” before saying she was “done” with the interview.
“You already used that one, don’t repeat your jokes,” Katt replied, having the last word.
What Katt Williams said
On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay, Katt was asked about the infamous spat with Wanda.

Katt said Wanda and the show’s producers promised to keep his personal and legal issues out of the interview.
“[They said] we won’t talk about your kids, we won’t talk about jail, no cases. We ain’t gonna talk about none of that,” Katt told Sharpe.
Katt believed that he was going on the show in part to celebrate ther Emmy Award he won for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Alligator Man.
When things took a turn during the interview, Katt told Sharpe he had to retaliate.
He said: “You can’t flip up on me because you’re an inferior comedian. I’m going to destroy you and I’m never gonna call you out of your name.
“It’s a very thin line… but this lady is trying to embarrass me in front of a largely homosexual fanbase. That’s why she got canceled.
“Gay people don’t take it kindly that you would, as a derogatory [term], call me gay,” he said, referencing the “lil’ mama” comments.
“Gay people don’t feel like it’s derogatory… I didn’t even know any of the stuff that she had done to my fellow comedians until afterwards.

“I just know that it was a setup.”
Katt also told Sharpe that the on-air argument escalated later that week.
He said: “They tried to kill me this same weekend. Not in jokes, with a real gun in my real face on real camera.
“Understand, I’m losing my life for participating in something that goes along with my job.”
Katt was referring to an alleged incident that took place on September 15, 2018.
Wanda was hosting a comedy night at the Atlanta Comedy Theatre.
In the venue’s parking lot, Wanda’s husband LaMorris allegedly confronted Katt for the comments he made about his wife.
LaMorris admitted that a verbal confrontation took place, but denied pulling a weapon.

He told the police who arrived on the scene that he dropped his gun while chasing Katt.
On Monday, September 17, 2018, Wanda addressed the incident on her radio show, telling listeners that the fight between LaMorris and Katt started after Katt allegedly started “dissing” her again at the venue.
Just a few days later, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, TMZ released exclusive footage showing LaMorris holding a gun in his hand and chasing Katt into a nearby grocery store.
‘I have to protect my wife’
The video did not show LaMorris pointing a gun at Katt.
LaMorris claimed he only retrieved the gun from the ground before returning to the comedy club.
In an exclusive interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution later in September, LaMorris explained that he felt compelled to protect his wife.
He said: “I have to protect my wife. I wasn’t looking for conflict. I just wanted him to keep it moving.”
Family life
LaMorris and Wanda had three children together: Tavares, Giovanni, and Isaiah.
The couple also had a granddaughter born in 2017 named Taylor — the child of their son Tavares.
Their children shared a statement on Instagram regarding their mother’s passing reading: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share with you all the passing of our mother Wanda Smith.
“We’d like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support.
“We will share funeral arrangements once they are finalized.
“Please continue to keep us lifted in prayer.”
