When will Tua Tagovailoa return for the Miami Dolphins?

TUA TAGOVAILOA has been out of action for the Miami Dolphins since he suffered a sickening concussion during his team’s defeat to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.

It was the third head injury in the young quarterback’s NFL career, prompting some speculation that he may retire.

But Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is confident his signal caller will not only play again but do so this season.

When will Tua Tagovailoa return for the Miami Dolphins?

Tagovaiola sustained the third concussion of his NFL career on September 12 and was later placed on injured reserve on September 17.

NFL rules dictate that the Dolphins’ star quarterback must sit out at least eight weeks after such a dangerous injury.

During his time away from the field, the 26-year-old has met with neurological experts to receive more information regarding his health status.

And Dolphins head coach McDaniel has explained that those meetings have “continued to be positive.”

Speaking to the media on October 14, McDaniel gave an update on Tuagavaiola, he said: “There’s still information that he’s seeking this week, and as far as timelines go, I know that he’s not playing this week, and I do expect to see him playing football in 2024, but where that is exactly, we’ll let the process continue since we still have time before you could even entertain anything.

“We’ll make sure that he’s diligent this week and assess after that.”

McDaniel later added: “It is exciting that I do believe he’ll play football this year.

“I never went down that rabbit hole of if he would or wouldn’t, just because I’ve learned through circumstance how that’s the wrong question to be asking.

“The right questions are completely, 100 percent toward the human being and the player as a result.”

For now, Tagovailoa remains on the injured reserve and won’t be eligible to practice until October 23, but his recovery is expected to take longer than that.

Tyler Huntley started the two games prior to the Dolphin’s Week 6 bye and is expected to stay under center for their upcoming match against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Miami are 1-2 over their last three games without their starting quarterback, Tagovailoa.
