Creepy figures spotted behind home plate at Dodger Stadium

If you’re a Dodgers fan, the final score of Game 2 of the National League Championship Series wasn’t the only thing of nightmares.

Throughout Monday afternoon’s contest between the Dodgers and the New York Mets, which ultimately resulted in a 7-3 Mets win, two creepy characters made their presence known during the internationally broadcasted game.

Two ghoulish figures wearing neon yellow shirts could be spotted directly behind home plate, their grins wide, their expressions unchanging for minutes at a time.

For the casual viewer or non-horror film fan, the behavior of the two people might be deemed unsettling or foreboding. But sports or horror movie diehards know the plot well.

The two figures are most certainly part of a viral campaign for the film “Smile 2,” a sequel to the surprise success film from 2022, which featured the same viral marketing tactics at MLB ballparks across the country.

The guerrilla marketing campaign resulted in widespread conversation on social media and acclaim for both the brains behind the idea and the film’s studio, Paramount.

The “Smile” franchise follows the story of a deadly curse that takes the form of smiling figures as it haunts and predates its victims.

As the sequel is set to premiere later this week, one has to naturally wonder if this is the last we’ll see of these creepy phantoms in high-profile public spaces.

If they continue to haunt Dodgers fans and manage to score tickets for the Game 3 of the NLCS, they’ll have to travel to Citi Field in in Queens, New York.
