AN influencer tested the UK’s cheapest hotel and revealed a month’s stay would be cheaper than paying rent.

The Highbury Hotel in Blackpool costs just £12.80 a night, which would set guests back £384 per month.

Zac has a huge following for his hotel reviews on TikTok

According to the Office for National Statistics, the average Brit will spend £1,300 on rent every month – making the humble seaside accommodation cheaper than most homes.

Zac Jones, who boasts a huge following on TikTok for his hotel tips and tricks was gobsmacked by the price tag of a night’s stay.

“I’ve booked a hotel in Blackpool for £12.80, can you believe it?” he told followers.

“It’s the first time I ever saw a Trip Advisor reviews begging me not to stay and countless terrible stories of people having to leave because of how bad the condition was in,” he continued.

One former guest wrote on the travel site said they discovered “faeces in the toilet and beds with stained sheets”.

However, there were a few gripes he discovered during his visit that were too much for some followers.

In a video, he was seen walking into the bedroom, which he enthusiastically declared as “vintage”.

He then discovered a “dirty” brown duvet spread over the low-set double bed but was quick to point out the positives.

“A bit dirty, but for £12.80 this is not bad is it? You’ve even got a television, a kettle, tea and coffee,” he told followers.

Breakfast is also included in the staggeringly low price of the bedroom.

Zac revealed the views from the window, which were buildings opposite rather than a pretty seaside landscape.

A close-up shot revealed a chair with stains across the off-white fabric.

“I definitely don’t think I’ll be using that chair,” he laughed.

Using a UV light to expose hidden filth, he examined the bed.

“Not a terrible first impression,” he said.

“It’s not perfect, there’s a few stains, but I don’t think this is going to be bedbug infested.”

Zac discovered a handful of dead flies in a drawer and stray hairs dotted around the bathroom but said: “You know what, for £12.80 a night, I’m impressed.”

He also came across mould around the window, adding: “There’s a bit of mould up there, but for £12.80 I’m taking this all day”.

After sharing the video, one follower wrote: “You could pay £358.40 every month to live here, for someone who is homeless say, this would be an absolute saving grace! Warm bed, kettle, tv etc.”

“For £12.80 that is a serious bargain,” agreed a second.

“How can anyone complain for that price? You get what you pay for I guess,” said a third.

“Honestly as long as there’s no bed bugs and the bedding was washed I’d be fine with that,” echoed a fourth.

“Cheaper than a hostel, it’s fantastic for that price. I’ve slept in worse and paid 10x,” said another.

The hotel has nine bedrooms and is situated in central Blackpool.

A spokesperson for The Highbury Hotel told The Sun: “The only comment we can make is this was under a management team that was dismissed from the business last week, a new management team are now in place and are excited about changing the hotel whilst remaining true to our policy of providing people with affordable bed and breakfast accommodation.”
