Inside Hannah Waddingham’s bargain beauty routine that she uses instead of Botox at 50 – and it includes a £6 Boots buy

SHE’S a household name thanks to her iconic role as Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso.

But it’s not just Hannah Waddingham’s acting ability that’s earnt her a horde of fans, but also her honesty.

The mum-of-one has been open about her fertility issues, “dry” love life and the evening beauty routine she swears by instead of Botox.

Hannah still has a fear of needles aged 50, so opts for skincare products that do enough work to offset the need for any “intrusive” tweakments.

Her skincare mantra is to mix both expensive and cheap products to get the best of both worlds – and the most for your money.

“I’m absolutely obsessed with very, very good products with no rubbish in them,” she says.

“There are some things in my regime that are more lowkey and then other things that I spend the pennies on.

“I don’t want to have any intrusive things done to my face because I’m scared of needles.”

The actress shared her evening beauty routine from the comfort of her own bathroom in a YouTube video with Harper’s BAZAAR

“I’ve always used a cleansing balm,” she tells.

“I like it being a one-purpose thing, I don’t really like a separate eye make-up remover.

“And I just think it really gets into the grub and into the make-up.”

Hannah swears by the cult-classic Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, which costs £49 for a 100g tub.

However, it’s currently in the Boots sale for £41.65.

Once she’s rubbed the balm into her skin, she wipes it off with a hot, wet flannel.

Hannah adds that she will take her make-up off no matter what – even when she’s drunk or extremely tired.

Hannah Waddingham’s Showbiz Career History

MOST of us might know Hannah Waddingham for her role in Ted Lasso, but the British actress has been on the scene since 1998…

The mum-of-one made her West End debut in ‘Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens’ at The Queens Theatre, London, in 1998.

Her stage career also saw her land gigs on New York’s iconic Broadway.

In 2011, she made her screen debut in BBC sitcom, Not Going Out.

She had a small role in the 2012 film Les Misérables and appeared in the ITV comedy Benidorm in 2014.

Hannah’s telly career properly kicked off when she played the “Shame Nun”, Septa Unella, in season 5 and 6 of Game of Thrones.

She later revealed that she began filming her scenes nine weeks after the birth of her daughter.

From 2020 to 2023, Hannah portrayed Rebecca Welton, the owner of AFC Richmond, on the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso.

This gig saw her win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021, and the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021 and 2022.

Anti-ageing Step

To double cleanse, Hannah goes in after the balm with Elemis’ £32 Superfood Facial Wash – which is currently on sale for £17.60 in Sephora.

She then applies some oil to her face as part of her gua sha routine.

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool, typically made of jade, rose quartz or another stone.

This can reduce puffiness and help detoxify the skin by stimulating the lymphatic system, which is responsible for removing toxins and excess fluids.

Fans of the practice claim that regular use of a facial gua sha can promote smoother, firmer and more radiant skin.

Regular use is also thought to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by promoting collagen production and improving skin elasticity.

Keeping the Face ‘Calm’

Hannah swears by the Weleda Skin Food Light for locking in moisture on her face, lips AND body.

This nifty cream went viral on TikTok in 2021 for good reason.

It’s thick, hydrating and hailed for the glow that it gives – and now it’s on sale for 6.71 in Boots

I want to see my skincare through my make-up. I want to see glowy skin first

The actress dubbed it as “absolutely brilliant on flights” and hailed it’s “all-purpose” ability.

“You can put it on your elbows, put it on your lips,” she says.

“It’s really gorgeous and smells fabulous.

“You can use it on your legs, but it’s something that always keeps my face calm and moisturised.”

Charlotte Tilbury Buys

Before she goes to sleep, Hannah applies Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Night Cream, which costs £100 for a 50ml pot.

“I’m telling you, it’s like honey for your skin,” she says.

She then follows this with the brand’s Magic Eye Rescue cream, which will set you back £49 for a 15ml tub.

“Over the years, I’ve wanted to use less things that have naughty animal products in,” she says.

“I wanted things that, even if you’re spending a lot of money on them, you can immediately see the effects of them.

“I want to see my skincare through my make-up.

“I want to see glowy skin first.”
