WEATHER: Severe storms with lightning, winds and HAIL expected in multiple parts of SA

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS

A. A Yellow Level 2 Warning for Severe Thunderstorms with excessive lightning, strong and damaging winds, hail and heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads and localised damage to infrastructure is expected over the north-eastern parts of the Free State, north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the eastern Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga.

B. A Yellow Level 2 Warning for Wind and Waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea as well as small vessels and personal watercrafts at risk of taking on water and capsizing in locality is expected between Cape Agulhas and Alexander Bay.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, over the central and western parts of the Free State, in places over the North West, the northern and western parts of Gauteng and the Western Bushveld and Valley of Limpopo.

ADVISORIES

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and over the central and eastern parts of both the North West and Free State until Monday (14 October 2024).
