Brazen bank robbery in Campbell is subject of museum talk

Stick ’em up

History Happy Hour is stepping back in time to 1926 Campbell, when a daring bank robbery shocked the community. On Oct. 25 David Blinn, a researcher for the Campbell Museum, will unravel the true story behind the heist, in which a gang of robbers concealed themselves inside the bank overnight, emerging at dawn to hold the bank manager at gunpoint and seize over $2,200—a significant amount in those days.

The program starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Ainsley House, 300 Grant St. Tickets are $25 at www.campbellmuseum.com/shop.

Creepy Crawly Halloween

Two- and four-legged little ghouls, goblins and superheroes will descend on downtown Campbell on Oct. 27 for some scary good fun and trick-or-treating. The annual Creepy Crawly Halloween is set for 4-6 p.m.

According to the Downtown Campbell Business Association, costumes and community outshine candy at this event.

“With the number of people that we draw to our event, it’s not likely that you’re going to leave with a full bucket of candy,” reads the Downtown Campbell website. “This is a very popular event and it will be crowded, so if you’re bringing sensitive children or animals, please take special precautions.”

There will not be a costume contest this year, but attendees and their furry friends are still encouraged to wear creative get-ups.

Those looking to get into the holiday spirit a little sooner can come to downtown Campbell on Oct. 26 for the Thrill the World Zombie Crawl. Beginning at 7 p.m. at Opa’s, a horde of zombies will perform the dance from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at multiple times and locations throughout the evening.
