Turkish referee Elif Karaarslan and FIFA inspector Orhan Erdemir are in the news after an alleged video featuring them having sex went viral.
24-year-old Elif Karaarslan, and 61-year-old FIFA inspector Orhan Erdemir appeared in the alleged video, and the Turkish Football Federation promptly suspended both from their positions.
Elif Karaarslan has been slapped with a lifetime ban after she appeared in the explicit tape.
The incident reportedly occurred approximately a year ago, and the termination of the licenses for both strengthens the fact that the video is not fake or doctored.
Elif Karaarslan is suspected of having made the pictures viral but has maintained that she is not the person featured in the video.
She added that she does not look like the person in the video and that her body structure differs from that of the person in the video.
Elif Karaarslan Alleged That The Picture Is AI-Generated
Elif Karaarslan further alleged that the picture has been AI-generated and promised to fight her case to clear her name in any manner possible under the law.
Elif, 24, said:
“I will have a long road ahead legally, but I will overcome in the strongest and most robust way. I look forward to your full support and love in this process. Crying, screaming, and being sad are not things I would do. That is not me. I will stand by my cause until the end. I am just one of many who are being harmed – I hope I am the last.”
Elif’s lawyer said in a statement:
“A montaged video was published on social media, created entirely through AI from someone else’s social media account. Taking into consideration this montage video, created with malicious and deliberate intentions, poses a threat to anyone facing similar accusations in the future.”
Elif Karaarslan started her career in football at the Libadi Sports Club and then represented Bakirkiyi Gençlikspor and the honored Beşiktaş.
She performed well and made her name in Turkey’s lower league circuits. However, an unfortunate severe anterior cruciate ligament tear at the age of 16 while playing for Beşiktaş prematurely ended her football career.
Later, after being motivated by the careers of foreign female referees she admired on social media, she became an officiator.
She studied at the University of Marmara’s Faculty of Sports Sciences and laid the foundation for her new career.
She started her career as a referee on February 29, 2020, and officiated in her first match as the second official.
Her classy looks and distinct style attracted everyone, and she soon had a sizable following on social media. Istanbul-born Elif has 363,000 followers on social media.
