A taxi driver who allegedly stabbed a young man in the face in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has been charged over the incident.
Emergency services were called to Boundary Street, Paddington, just after 10pm on Friday following reports that a 22-year-old man had been stabbed.
A 71-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Waverley police station, where police said he assisted with their investigation.
The taxi driver has now been charged with reckless wounding.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
The 22-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for a stab wound to his face.
He was taken to hospital in stable condition.
“Upon arrival, officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were advised that an altercation had occurred prior to the alleged stabbing of a taxi passenger by the driver,” NSW Police said in a statement on Friday.

“A crime scene has been cordoned off and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
