Casey Fisher has officially stepped down as the girls’ Head Basketball Coach at Porter’s Chapel Academy. Fisher made the decision not long ago as he decided to concentrate more on his ministries and his goals of becoming a college referee.
“First I want to thank Blake Purvis and the Board for giving me the opportunity to coach at PCA,” Fisher said. “I have goals to one day become a college referee and that requires a lot of time so I wouldn’t be able to give PCA 100% effort that they deserve.”
Over the last four years, Fisher has been at the helm of the basketball program at PCA where he started off with aa 20-10 record. In 2022 he would also take over the boys’ program where he produced winning season in both years.
Fisher has created some forever lasting memories as Head Coach and he testified that beating Manchester twice in his third year was one of those times he’ll never forget. He was selected as VDN’s Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Year 3 out of 4 of his years.
In the 2023-2024 season, Fisher lead the Lady Eagles to the State Tournament and PCA also hosted the South State Tournament that same year. He was also named District Coach of the Year in 2024.
Six of Fisher’s athletes have moved on to play on the collegiate level and he has compiled over 100 wins during his time at PCA.
Fisher has a long history of successful basketball in his playing days. He was a star basketball player at the University of Southern Mississippi where he was named to the All-Metro Freshman Team, 2nd Team All-Metro Conference, has 1,599 career points and helped the team to a NIT 1987 Championship.
Although Fisher won’t be coaching basketball anytime soon, VDN will continue to highlight his success in the upcoming years.
Bruce Robinson will take over both the boys and girls’ program.
