PRO-FAMILY policies are needed to tackle Britain’s baby crisis and boost the economy, Labour MPs are urging.
New stats showing deaths outstripping births in the UK for the first time in 50 years have sparked fears of a ticking time bomb for the nation’s future.

With less than three weeks until the Chancellor unveils her Budget, Labour’s Josh Simons is calling for a radical shift to make raising kids in Britain “less exhausting and expensive”.
The MP for Makerfield told The Sun: “We must lift our gaze to consider what economic choices will help us address the baby crisis looming on the horizon.
“Making it less exhausting and expensive to have kids in this country, making sure that parenting is something we celebrate and reward, for Dads as well as Mums, is vital to the future of our society and our economy.”
Labour MP for Telford Shaun Davies echoed his comments, adding: “Kids are not just the future of our country, but the future of the economy. We need Brits to have Brits.
“There is so much that employers and Government can do to support those future parents to have kids.”
Labour MP for Hyndburn Sarah Smith added: “This shocking fact demonstrates how urgent it is that we address the many barriers people face to becoming parents and expanding their families.”
All three MPs are campaigning for better paternity leave and pay alongside The Dad Shift.
