Bongani Zungu’s age revealed: Will he play two more seasons?

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Bongani Zungu turned a year older, and social media was abuzz with warm birthday wishes.

With an illustrious career spanning years, Bongani Zungu has quickly become one of the most celebrated stars in South Africa.

BONGANI ZUNGU’S AGE REVEALED

Back home, he is best known for his stint with Mamelodi Sundowns, while in Europe, he is remembered for his moments of brilliance with Amiens and Rangers.

Thanks to his huge social media following, Bongani Zungu often trends from his performance to his private life.

Despite being one of the most followed stars, Bongani Zungu has managed to keep his private life under wraps, leaving many to guess even about his age.

However, he is trending after his wife, Cindy Mahlangu, took to her Instagram Stories to celebrate Bongani Zungu’s birthday.

The former Scandal actress shared a photo of the two holding hands and captioned it, “Happy birthday, my love.”

Against the post, fans and fellow footballers flooded their social media with warm birthday wishes, including Mudau.

Against the trends, The South African has connected the dots about Bongani Zungu’s age, which he has kept under wraps for years.

The 32-year-old star was born in the East Rand in 1992 in Duduza, west of Nigel. Fans were convinced that the star looked younger than his age.

Others were convinced that Bongani Zungu knew how to look sharp and fit as a star.

CAREER

At 18, Bongani Zungu was already making headlines; the rest was history. Bongani Zungu started his youth career with Dynamos before making his senior debut with the University of Pretoria in 2012.

He joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2013 and left in 2016 for Vitoria Guimaraes. From Vitoria Guimaraes, he joined Amiens in 2017 before leaving in 2022 for Rangers on loan.

In the same year, he returned to Mamelodi Sundowns for a second stint. His return made him one of PSL’s highest-paid stars.

However, his second dance with Masandawana was not as picture-perfect as many had hoped. Injuries affected Bongani Zungu’s performance, keeping him out of the game for months.

He left the club in 2024 and has yet to find a new one. Some fans have made it known that he still has two seasons on the card, while others have urged him to consider retiring.

MAKING HEADLINES

Last month, he trended after he showed off his herd of Ankole cattle. With a few years left on the cards for the midfield maestro, it seems Bongani Zungu is already planning his retirement.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star now owns one of Africa’s most politically connected cattle breeds, the Ankole.
