It’s been four years since she last graced screens, and nine years since she wrapped her smash hit self-titled sitcom.
But Miranda Hart, who announced Tuesday that she recently got married, is teasing a return to her comedy career and admits she’s missed “laughter and silliness.”
Appearing on The One Show on Tuesday to promote her new book I Haven’t Been Completely Honest With You, Miranda explained how a chronic illness kept her housebound for years, putting a pause on her incredible career.
The star said that now, after finding fulfillment in writing her book, she is ready to return to TV.

“I really want to be a little crazy again now,” she declared.
‘I miss the studio floor, I miss laughing, I don’t have any ideas yet, they haven’t sunk in yet. But I miss messing around.’
Miranda has kept a low profile in recent years. The comedian shot to fame with her self-titled sitcom series in 2009 and starred in Call The Midwife as Chummy from 2012 to 2015.
In 2017, it was revealed that Miranda would not be returning to Call The Midwife, citing a busy work schedule as the reason.
But she later revealed during a stand-up gig in London that she was suffering from ‘ill’ health
She was last seen in the 2020 film adaptation of Jane Austin, where she played ‘harmless chatterbox’ Miss Bates.
Meanwhile, a 10th anniversary special of Miranda will also air in 2020, filmed at the London Palladium in 2019 and described by Hart as ‘a celebration (not a new episode)’.
Speaking about the years she has been housebound due to her illness, Miranda told The One Show: ‘They haven’t been the most pleasant of years, I’ve been mostly confined to bed or housebound with a chronic illness, so they’ve been a been a few difficult years, almost ten years. that is what my book maps out.’
“It’s so nice to be back on television, I’m so excited to be here. Once you’re bedridden by a fatigue-induced chronic illness that takes a long time to diagnose, you miss life immensely, so I’m very happy to be here. ‘

‘I was alone in bed at home and the doctors didn’t know what was wrong with me. I couldn’t have a yoga retreat, so what are the universal truths? I’ve been doing research for years. . In the book are ten keys, which I call my treasures, to live well.’

The comedian appeared on the BBC show to promote her new book I Haven’t Been Completely Honest With You, in which she writes about her years of being housebound and her mysterious new husband.
The book describes “a very unexpected decade in my life and there have been some surprising and incredible joys, but also some very difficult, equally surprising challenges.”

Speaking to Alex Jones and Alex Scott, Miranda, 51, declared ‘someone put a ring on it’ when she revealed she met ‘my person’ at the age of 49.
‘I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so beautiful! “I had written Gary for Miranda on screen and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person,” she explained, but insisted she would keep her husband’s identity a secret.
‘It’s a small subtext in the book, I’m not going to reveal how we met, because that’s a bit of a twist. He is my best friend, we had the most fun and I love being a young bride at 51.”
The star added that she hoped readers of her book will feel hope through her love story, explaining; “The fact that I met someone during a pandemic, during a chronic illness, when I couldn’t get out of bed or out of the house… I really wanted to meet someone, I didn’t want to go on living. mine no longer.’
‘The fact that I was able to meet someone is not a romantic story, but it is hope. Whatever situation you are in, there is always hope, things are really changing.’
