Ophelia Nicol a.k.a. Mama Tot is a popular TikTok creator who has found herself in the midst of a controversy after she posted a video which alleged that FEMA’s reaction to Hurricane Helena was politically biased and later deleted the post.
Ophelia Nichol was always known for her progressive views but her recent reactions have irked her fans who are accusing her of being a hypocrite.
The latest scandal has also eroded her subscribers by a huge margin.
Mama Tot, has been on TikTok since 2020 and has endeared to over a million followers with her videos which always depicted her bubbly and happy personality.
However, some of her actions have also caused controversy like her views on the LGBTQIA community and the end of human trafficking in the United States.
In her deleted post the content creator had vaguely talked about the Helene and it was contrived by many netizens as an erroneous viewpoint on FEMA’s response to the disastrous storm. Many netizens also accused her of following conspiracy theory territory that is particularly popular in the rhetoric of Republican circles.
The video may have been deleted from Mama Tot’s social media account but at least one video has been downloaded and shared on the social media sites by netizens.
There is a conspiracy theory which is making rounds on social media that post-hurricane Helena, the US Government is deliberately withholding aid from reaching Republican victims of the hurricane. Conspiracy theorists also accuse the present Democrat-led US Government of diverting the aid to areas which have a strong Democratic Party support base. Mama Tot is being accused of toeing the same line as the conspiracy theorists.
Social Media Reacts To Mama Tot’s Comments
This is the first time that Mama Tot has revealed any conspiracy theory tendencies online and since the post has been deleted from her TikTok account, netizens took to other social media platforms such as Reddit and X to vent their frustration and disapproval for the TikToker.

Mama Tot Loses 10K Followers
Nicol is reported to have lost 100,000 TikTok followers, according to Social Blade and the latest controversy is to be blamed for it. Many netizens have also expressed doubts on her lofty ideals which she loudly proclaimed in her earlier videos.
