Not for the first time, Springbok Damian Willemse’s sexual orientation has become a trending topic on social media following another viral video. And this one also involves fellow Stormers player Suleiman Hartzenberg.
In recent weeks, the rugby player – who has recently returned to play following a finger injury – has been trolled over his bold fashion choices.
Damian – who is allegedly dating model and influencer Zoe Doyle – has even clapped back at the “gay-shaming” rumours.
DAMIAN WILLEMSE ‘PRIDE POST’ CONFUSES RUGBY FANS
In a trending clip on TikTok, Damian Willemse, and fellow Stormers star Suleiman Hartzenberg are seen chilling together while seemingly enjoying drinks.
The pics were taken during the Springbok’s visit abroad during which he was recovering from a torn finger ligament.
However, the TikToker – using the handle @iamunwritten, who is neither of the rugby players – gave the impression that there was more than just friendship brewing between the pals.
Across the images was the text: “When he sees me, everything in the world goes quiet.” The video was captioned “We are one” and included the hashtag #loveislove alongside a Pride flag.
The video has been viewed almost 400 000 and has been shared thousands of times.
In the comments section, South Africans were confused by the insinuation. Some even mistook the players for a “couple.”
Damian Willemse and Suleiman Hartzenberg have yet to respond to the viral video.
CLAPPING BACK AT GAY-SHAMING COMMENTS
Back in July, Damian Willemse trended on social media over pictures of his experimental fashion, including wearing curated looks by designer Rich Mnisi and painting his nails and toenails in bright colours and patterns.
The posts saw many of his followers sharing their unwarranted opinions about his sexual orientation.
Damian – who is allegedly dating model Zoe Doyle – is unfazed by the ignorant comments.
Under one post, he liked a comment that read that he was “redefining masculinity.” He also liked another in which one follower called his critics a vulgar word.
