Rob Burley took on a senior role at Sky News following his BBC exit in 2021.

Announcing his Sky departure, he wrote on Twitter/X: “Farewell @skynews, was a privilege to work with [Beth Rigby] who won the RTS as Political Journalist of the Year during my time there.

“Writing a new book, TV drama coming in 2025 and, new gig klaxon, am reunited with [Andrew Neil] on his lunchtime show on Times Radio – tune in at 1!”

Several former colleagues offered their support to Rob following his announcement.

This included Beth Rigby, the Political Editor, who wrote: “Loved working with you @RobBurl. We did some good stuff together.

“Good luck with the next chapter x.”

Another commented: “Good to work with you. All the best.”

While a third shared: “Congratulations on the new gig Rob- was a pleasure working and learning from you- wishing you all the best for the new adventures!”

A fourth chimed in: “Best wishes Rob. A big loss for Sky mind.”

Yet another remarked: “Great job, Rob. And good luck at Times.”

In Rob’s tenure at the Beeb, he served as editor of political programmes including Politics Live and The Andrew Marr show.

Last year, his book “Why is This Lying B*****d Lying to Me?” was published.

It outlines Rob’s experiences with British politicians with a focus on 12 political interviews over a 25-year period.

Following on from this, a two-part Channel 4 docu-series has been commissioned based on the book.

Titled Brian and Margaret, it stars Steve Coogan as journalist and broadcaster Brian Walden.

Walden, who died in 2019, was said to be Margaret Thatcher‘s favourite interviewer.

Meanwhile, Harriet Walter takes on the role of the late former Prime Minister, who passed away in 2013.

Brian and Margaret is expected to be broadcast in 2025.
