Graham Norton reveals what he really thinks of Taylor Swift as he recalls his biggest celebrity chat show disasters

“I remember saying to her, you know, because she's going on a big, long tour. And I said to her: "Are you worried about keeping your voice?" And she went: "No, I write songs that are easy to sing,"Graham said

British chat show icon Graham Norton has revealed what he thinks of pop giant Taylor Swift.

The Irish comedian, 61, who hosts the long-running Graham Norton Show in Britain, was chatting on the Kyle and Jackie O-Show on Tuesday when the Shake It Off hitmaker was brought up.

“Someone like Taylor Swift, who is maybe the most famous woman in the world – I don’t know if it’s an act, but she seems so normal,” he told the radio hosts.

‘It’s weird. It’s like you can change the economy of a country just by showing up. How can you be so normal? And yet she’s so sweet and normal and just wonderful.”

He added that he was also quite impressed with Taylor’s very pragmatic approach to songwriting.

“I remember saying to her, you know, because she’s going on a big, long tour. And I said to her, ‘Are you worried about keeping your voice?’ And she said, “No, I write songs that are easy to sing,” Graham said.

Kyle agreed with Graham’s assessment, saying he “loved” the megastar.

‘She has always been super sweet. For example, she went from a lanky teenage girl from a giraffe country to a megastar, but has remained the same from beginning to end. I love her,” he said.

‘She literally decided, ‘I’m going to write easy-to-sing songs. And that’s why I never have to worry about my voice, because I’m going to be fine.’ And now all the fans are singing them all,” Graham added.

He also revealed himself news.com.au some of his biggest celebrity disasters during the 31 seasons of The Graham Norton Show.

One celebrity who “wasn’t a great guest” was American actress Darryl Hannah.

He explained that it wasn’t excessive demands or “diva” behavior, but rather nerves that made it difficult to work with the Kill Bill star.

He explained that Darryl’s reputation for nervousness preceded her, with the Splash actress reportedly fainting during an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.

“So she did our show, and thank God she wasn’t a great guest,” he told the publication.

“But what I loved was that she got through it, then she was high as a kite. She really felt like she had done something great. And I was very happy for her that she got through it. It was still a really bad show.”

“I happened to be standing there when he got out of the car and he had a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hands, which is already worrying,” he said.

‘But then we noticed that the bottle of Jack Daniels was half empty. It soon became very clear where Jack Daniels had gone. Those evenings are quite hard work, where you’re just trying to keep things together and get to the finish line.’

He also brought up a 2012 performance by pop icon Madonna, who looked less than impressed when she was presented with two dolls of her likeness made by two diehard fans in the audience.

‘I saw them after the show and said, “Oh, I’m sorry she was a little rude about the dolls.” But they couldn’t have been happier. Their diva had behaved exactly the way they wanted!’
