WHITNEY Houston’s mom has died in hospice care after suffering from Alzheimer’s, according to reports.
Cissy Houston, who had a Grammy-winning singing career of her own, died at 91 years old.
Cissy was surrounded by family in her New Jersey home when she died, according to the report first shared by The Associated Press.
Her cause of death was not immediately released.
“Our hearts are filled with pain and sadness,” Pat Houston, Cissy’s daughter in law, said in a statement.
“We lost the matriarch of our family.”
Cissy Houston first rose to fame by singing backup for artists like Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley.
