LORRAINE Kelly today announced the death of her ITV co-star as she interrupted Monday’s episode to share an emotional tribute with viewers.
The Lorraine presenter, 64, revealed their colleague had died from breast cancer aged 50.
She said their colleague Heather Sawyer was a “very special lady”.
She said: “I’m very sorry to have to share some sad news this morning.
“One of our amazing singers, Heather Sawyer, has died from secondary breast cancer.
“Heather was only 50 years old, an astonishing woman.
“She was such a huge part of the choir, so passionate about everything. Amazing.”
Dr Hilary Jones joined Lorraine in the studio to remember Heather.
He said: “She was a wonderful lady who sang at the choir to celebrate the Change and Check campaign.
“And you know, what she would want right now is for us to remind women, check themselves, do the self examination, go and see your GP, get it sorted out as soon as possible.”
“She absolutely would, and we’re sending all of our love to Heather. A very, very special lady,” Lorraine said.
