A WOMAN has left people stunned after sharing how her mother told everyone she was stillborn because she was black.
Alicia explained that her biological mother, who is white, was married to a white man – with whom she had three children – but had an affair with a black man during their marriage.

When her bio mum fell pregnant with the man she’d been having an affair with, she knew her white husband would find out and realise she’d been unfaithful[/caption]
The infidelity resulted in her mum falling pregnant which, in turn, alerted her husband to the fact that she’d been unfaithful and the baby wasn’t his.
But while her husband knew the truth, he was the only one, as she “went her whole entire pregnancy tricking her family and friends into thinking that the baby was her husband’s,” Alicia said in her TikTok video.
“So for nine months, her friends and family thought that her and her husband were gonna have another baby.
“Everybody was all excited for them to have their fourth child. And then when I was born, all of her friends and family were so excited for this baby.
“And then she told them that I had passed away.
“When in reality, I was fully born and given up for adoption to my two amazing parents.”
Alicia added that her biological mother thought “that was the best thing to do” at the time, as she didn’t want anyone to know the truth about her baby’s real father.
In the next video, Alicia went on to explain how she felt about her mum putting her up for adoption.
“The answer might be really surprising to you,” she said.
“I actually don’t really mind that she did that.
“She thought that that was the best thing for her to do at the time.
“Like, yes, it’s messed up she told them that I had died, but at the same time, she thought that that was the best thing to do.”
Alicia added that she didn’t find out about any of this until the day before she turned 18, when she met her biological mum for the first time.
“When she told me, honestly, my initial reaction was that I felt sorry for her because she’s the one that has to carry this lie throughout her life,” she said.
“Still breaks my heart for her because still to this day, her friends and family don’t know that I exist.”
Alicia also said in another video that she actually “thanked” her bio mum for putting her up for adoption during another meeting, as otherwise she wouldn’t have been raised by her adoptive parents.
How does adoption work?
In the UK, there is lengthy process involved with adopting a child and it can take up to six months for the paperwork to be finalised.
To even be considered, you have to meet the following criteria:
- You must be over 21
- You must be a legal resident of the UK for at least 12 months.
- No criminal convictions – especially any related to the endangerment of children. This applies to everyone your household.
You will also have to go through an inital background check and assesment, which will consider whether you are the right fit for adoption.
Potenital parents will also have undergo training and a process to match them with the right child.
And, while she’s now a professional ballerina, it would have been very unlikely that she would have been able to have that career had she stayed with her bio mum.
