What is calico hair?

Calico hair is inspired by the coloring of a calico cat – featuring red, brunette and blonde hair colors.

In Miley Cyrus’ cover for W Mag, she features a softer version of calico highlights.

There are numerous ways to approach calico hair.

You can get bold, chunky highlights or, like Miley’s, keep it fairly subtle but still stand out.

It’s safe to assume that due to celebrities getting the new highlights, fans have wanted to match.

Calico hair has taken TikTok by storm as  hairstylists show off their skill with amazing, stand-out colors that people will definitely want for the autumn.

Those with the style have showed off chunky highlights or money piece calico with lighter strands at the front.

Some with short hair have even got in on the trend, with a calico bob trending from having red and blonde highlights on top with black hair underneath.

Calico braids also look incredible, with blonde and red strands making a real statement.

Wolf cuts have been on-trend for the majority of this year, and now some wearers are incorporating the calico into their hairstyle.

It’s always warned by hair experts to not color it yourself if you are not experienced or a professional – especially if you’re dealing with bleach.

A woman was left sobbing after having a bleach job when her hair started to fall out.

While some strands were still long, she had huge patches of shorter tufts.

On her @morganpaigecarter account, she was in tears as she wrote: “Can someone help me find someone who can fix this?”

The unfortunate woman said it had happened after she visited a salon for a chemical job.

She said: “I know you’re going to come for me and say, ‘Why not just shave it off?’

“But my hair is my comfort blanket. I didn’t realise how much I depended on it until I had none.

“Imagine trying to look cute or going out for a nice dinner, and you have to figure out how to fix this situation so it’s presentable.

“This has been my life for the last four and a half months, which is why I haven’t shaved it off or done a pixie cut.

“My hair is my comfort blanket. I tried to get every product to make it look presentable and hide it, but it still looks horrible.”
