I’m a dog trainer – 3 breeds will make you never want to own a pooch again & which to avoid if you’re a ‘city slicker’

A DOG trainer has revealed three breeds that he said will make you never want to own a dog again, including one pooch that “average Joe’s can’t handle.”

Speaking on behalf of dog behaviour experts @cherryhoggs, the trainer revealed that certain breeds are not appropriate for first time owners with no experience.

Hounds

Hounds should not be purchased by first-time owners, according to the trainer, as they need to “live on a farm with 100 acres.”

“They need to live a natural hound lifestyle”, he revealed stating the the pets aren’t suitable for “city slickers.”

Working Line Dogs

The trainer added that any working line dogs (dogs that have been bred to excel at a certain job, such as guard dogs or police dogs) should not be considered by first-time pet owners.

Working line dogs can range from German Shephards to Bloodhounds and all have different skillsets.

However, the trainer said that “even a dog as lovely as a labrador” should not be considered as a pet if it is a working line dog.

He said: “If you get a working line labrador you are royally f***ed.”

Pit Bulls

Pit Bull terriers are banned in the UK, so it’s no surprise that this breed made it on to the trainer’s list.

He said: “Average Joe’s should never own a pit bull, plain and simple.”

“They are dangerous.”

The trainer explained that inexperienced dog owners don’t use the right forms of communication with their pit bulls, and don’t exercise them properly.

He said that dog owners tend to go for a dog that they like the look of instead of one that suits their lifestyle.

The video has likely stuck a chord with many people, as it has racked up over 194,000 views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts, with many disagreeing with the trainer’s advice.
