TOP broadcaster and “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan has been married to lawyer and Marines officer Ali Iyad “Yado” Yakub for nine years.
The couple met in 1998 at the University of Virginia where they studied foreign affairs, and have been married since 2015.

Who is Margaret Brennan’s husband Yado Yakub?
Ali Iyad “Yado” Yakub, 46, is a lawyer and former U.S. Marine Corps officer who now runs his own consulting agency.
The Syrian-American studied foreign affairs at the University of Virginia where he met Margaret Brennan when he was a senior and she was a freshman.
However, it was not a case of love at first sight.
“I thought she was too conservative, too preppy, too ‘New England,’” Yakub told The Washington Post in a 2015 interview.
“She thought I was a bit wild and partied too much.”
Brennan agreed, adding; “We never would have dated each other back in college.”
After graduating, Yakub worked for future president Joe Biden during his first year studying law.
He helped to draft laws on domestic and foreign policy for the then-Senator for Delaware.
Later, Yakub became a Marine before working as a lawyer in Washington DC.
It was there that, in early 2013, he bumped into Brennan by chance at a bus stop.
They soon started dating and, in March 2014 on a trip together to their former college, Yakub proposed on the spot where they had met 14 years before.
The couple married in DC in April 2015, and since 2019, he has worked in the business world, running his own consulting agency, Y2 Global Advisory, offering his expertise on government relations, legislative law, and strategic communications.

In April 2018, Brennan announced she and Yakub were expecting their first child together.
She made the announcement on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Their first son, Eamon Brennan Yakub, was born on September 11, 2018.
“Eamon means ‘guardian’ in Irish and, while spelled differently, also means ‘righteous’ in Arabic,” Brennan told People in 2018.
“We picked it long ago while traveling through Ireland on a road trip.”
Their second child, Malek Murphy Yakub, was born on April 28, 2021.
The family are based in Washington DC.

Brennan is currently the moderator for the long-running CBS News program “Face the Nation,” becoming only the second woman to host the prestigious Sunday morning program in 2018.
She is also the network’s chief foreign affairs correspondent.
Brennan has interviewed world leaders including Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
In 2023, “Face the Nation” won the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in TV Political Journalism, with Brennan’s moderating approach garnering praise as being “measured, completely consistent, researched, and prepared.”
Before becoming moderator of “Face the Nation,” Brennan had several other roles on CBS News including State Department and White House correspondent.
