Vicksburg Daily News –

VICKSBURG, MS – The Old Courthouse Museum’s Director and Curator, George “Bubba” Bolm has retired after 19 years of service. With Bolm’s retirement, Jordan Rushing will be the new Director and Curator.

Not long after Bubba Bolm’s arrival in Vicksburg in 1982, he got involved with the Historical Society through his wife, Becki Bolm. This relationship then led to Bolm’s working under the Old Courthouse Museum’s previous director, Gordon Cotton.

“I’ve never had a job before that was so rewarding. The people I’ve met in the community that I would not have known had it not been for this job, people off the street, tourists – It has been phenomenal. Vicksburg has a lot of good folks,” said Bolms in an interview with Cotton.

Under Cotton, Bolm assisted with the accounting of the Museum, fundraising events, research, exhibits, and other day to day task. He was handpicked by Cotton as his replacement after Cotton’s retirement announcement.

“Having worked with Bubba for 13 years, I have witnessed and learned extensively from his dedication to the organization,” said Rushing in their newsletter, “The Board, advisory council, and his mentorship is something I will never take for granted. They have instilled in me a[n] overwhelming pride in the people, stories, and artifacts of the Warren County community and tge sacred shrine which houses them, the Old Court House Museum.”
