Man arrested in Stella on drug charges, possession of firearm

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) — The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office closed a narcotics investigation case that involved the trafficking and distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine in the Stella area.

During the investigation, a person of interest was identified as Cameron Lemell Reese in the distribution of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine and conducted several undercover controlled purchases.

On September 27, Detectives along with Carteret County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Yuna executed a search warrant on Wetherington Landing Road in Stella, leading to the seizure of 489.4 grams of methamphetamine, 40.7 grams of cocaine, one firearm and $16,928 in cash.

Reese was arrested and charged with 20 counts of trafficking methamphetamine, six counts of trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and maintaining a dwelling. At the time of his arrest, he was issued a $500,000 secured bond and held in the Carteret County Jail.

At his first appearance on Tuesday, District Court Judge Dave McFayden increased his bond to $2.5 million secured.
