‘It was like negative ASMR’ fans rage after watching Demi Moore’s graphic new movie and slam ‘torturous’ detail

IT’S only just been released, but Demi Moore’s new movie The Substance is already causing a stir at the cinema – for the wrong reasons.

The film stars Demi as fading celeb Elisabeth Sparkle, who uses a black market drug that creates a younger, better version of herself, with horrific side effects.

But it’s a scene which involves Dennis eating shrimp that’s got people comparing it to “noise torture”[/caption]

It also stars Margaret Qualley as the younger version of Demi’s character, and Dennis Quaid as slimy TV producer.

Brits have already started walking out of screenings of the film due to the graphic and gruesome scenes, but there’s one in particular that’s leaving people feeling ill.

Even Demi warned viewers about the scene, which involves Dennis eating shrimp.

“I will just warn everyone, the scene with Dennis eating the shrimp is by far the most violent scene in the whole movie,” she said during an interview with Seth Meyers.

And people have also been taking to Reddit to weigh in on the scene, which saw Dennis consume 4lbs of shrimp in order to get it perfect.

“Damn the sound effects and design in the film are amazing, but that scene and those noises wtf,” one person wrote on the social media site.

“I can’t stand people making noise like that when eating, it was like negative ASMR if that’s a thing lol torture sounds.

“Would make me give up information easier and quicker than Batman could.”

“Noise torture, I believe, is absolutely a thing,” another added.

“When I go to see it, I’m taking headphones,” a third wrote.

“Just the close up shot of his mouth in the trailer gives me the willies.”

As someone else admitted that scene, and the film as a whole, had completely put them off their food.

“It’s rare for me to feel physically ill or repulsed even after the film ended,” they wrote.

“I needed to take time doing some other fun dancing games before I’m able to eat which is not my norm.

“I’m a fan of horror and love watching films I like several times but I’m not going to rewatch The Substance any time soon.”

Others were more complimentary about the movie, with some even suggesting Demi should be nominated for an Oscar for her role in it.

“I certainly think it is and I’m curious about other thoughts on this,” one wrote.

“I even think it deserves nominations in multiple categories to be honest.”

“An Oscar for a horror movie? We all know that’s not gonna happen,” another insisted.

“Both Demi Moore and Dennis Quaid deserve nominations, but it’s a long shot due to the genre this film is in,” someone else pointed out.

As another said: “This whole thing felt very well casted. They all nailed their roles.”
