News release from City of Morganton

There are more crews from Public Power sister communities either already in Morganton or enroute to help restore power including the the City of Maiden, City of Wilson, City of Granite Falls, City of Greenville NC.

Morganton still had, as of 4 p.m. on Sunday September 29, 4,500 people in the city without power. It is asked of citizens to please use caution and slow down when approaching crews working in the roadway.

Water – As a reminder we are still under the boil water advisory and citizens are asked to still conserve water while we are continuing filling the system. Therefore, when water service is restored consumers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water. Water customers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible.  This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.
