According to this pet pro, the average person is not “up to the challenge” of owning a Pitbull[/caption]

A dog psychologist who specialises in behaviour modification in pets, has revealed why working line Labradors are not suitable for first-time dog owners.

Sharing his advice online, the dog expert said: “Three breeds that are gonna make you never wanna have a dog again as an average Joe with no experience.”

So if you were thinking about getting a hound dog or a Pitbull, you may want to think again…

Hound dogs

According to this animal pro, any kind of Hound dogs are not suitable for those looking to get their first dog.

He explained: “Any hound, not a domesticated dog, needs to live on a farm, needs to own 100 acres and needs to actually live a natural hound lifestyle.

“You ain’t got it as a city slicker.”

Working line dogs

He also advised that working line dogs are not suitable for those wondering which breed to get as a first-time owner.

He added: “Any working line dog, even things as lovely as Labradors, if you get a working line Labrador, you are f*****g royally f****d.

“We’ve trained loads of them.”

Pitbulls

The third breed that this dog trainer wouldn’t recommend for first-time owners, which he claimed will “come as a surprise”, are Pitbulls.

The content creator and animal pro explained: “An average Joe should never own a Pitbull. Plain and simple.

“They are a dangerous dog to an average Joe because they don’t use the right form of communication, they don’t exercise the dog enough and they get a breed that is not suited to their lifestyle.

Dog Owner Guide: All You Need To Know

Owning and keeping a dog happy and healthy is not only a long-term financial, but a lifetime commitment.

“I love a Pitbull, they’re extremely easy to train if you have the correct mentality and the correct authority and discipline and routine.

“But an average Joe should never own a Pitbull, should never own a working line dog and should never own a hound, because you’re not up to the challenge.”

Big divide

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @cherryhoggs, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 192,600 views.

Most popular dog breeds in the UK

Dog experts, Tug-E-Nuff, surveyed the UK to find out their favourite dog breeds, here’s the top ten.

  1. Labrador Retriever
  2. Border Collie
  3. English Cocker Spaniel
  4. Cockapoo
  5. Golden Retriever
  6. German Shepherd Dog
  7. Staffordshire Bull Terrier
  8. Springer Spaniel
  9. Jack Russell Terrier
  10. Labradoodle

But social media users were left totally divided by the man’s claims – whilst some couldn’t agree more, others were keen to share their experiences in the comments.

One user explained: “You gotta be READY for those dogs!!”

A second chimed in: “I agree 100%.”

Foods you can’t feed your dog

Barbara Hanly, doggie wellness expert and founder of Soopa – healthy, plant-based dog treats – revealed what human food your pup can’t eat.

  1. Chocolate: Chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs and can cause anything from an upset stomach to seizures, depending on how much is eaten.
  2. Grapes & Raisins: Even a small amount of grapes or raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs, which can lead to severe health problems or even death.
  3. Onions & Garlic: These can cause damage to your dog’s red blood cells, leading to anaemia. Even small quantities can have harmful effects over time.
  4. Avocado: Avocados contain persin, a substance that is toxic to dogs, leading to vomiting, diarrhoea, and more severe health issues in large quantities.
  5. Macadamia Nuts: These nuts can cause weakness, vomiting, tremors, and hyperthermia in dogs, even in small amounts. Best to avoid them completely!

Whilst someone else wrote: “I agree with this .. these are not city dogs cooped up in an apartment.”

However, at the same time, one person said: “Pits are wonderful family dogs. They love kids.”

Another added: “My Greyhound doesn’t need 100 acres.”

A third commented: “First time dog owner. Got a working breed Aussie shepherd.

“Things are going great cause I did my research. What’s the problem with working breeds?”
