Toyota refused to service my new car despite me buying extended warranty – excuse was ‘dumbest thing I’ve ever heard’

A MECHANIC has hit out at Toyota online after the company allegedly refused to service his new car despite him buying an extended warranty.

The fuming driver claimed that the firm’s policy could do more damage to his vehicle in the long run.

The motorist, known online as Manic Mechanic, took to his TikTok account to share his frustrating experience.

In a viral video that has amassed over 700,000 views he claimed that he had been refused maintenance by Toyota for his wife’s two-year-old 4Runner SUV.

He had apparently called his local dealership and asked for an oil change when a service reminder popped up after 5,000 miles.

However, he claimed that the dealer’s response was to say that, as a policy, they wouldn’t carry out an oil change until 10,000 miles and would only rotate the tyres and carry out an inspection.

Manic was baffled by this as, in his opinion, the oil should be changed well before the 10,000-mile mark.

He fumed: “Changing your oil every 10,000 miles has got to be the dumbest f****** thing I’ve ever heard of.

“Oil only lasts so long, it wears out.

“It starts to lose its lubricity, it starts to lose its viscosity, it even starts to lose its detergent and cleaning abilities.

“10,000 miles is too f****** much on a gasoline engine.”

Even Toyota’s own website appeared to back him up, as it recommends 10,000 miles as the maximum oil change intervals for 4Runners using synthetic oil.

And for those using standard oil that falls to every 3-5,000 miles.

Nonetheless, the firm reportedly remained adamant that it wouldn’t carry out the work until the full interval had been hit.

If you leave engine oil unchanged for too long, it can cause your engine to seize, which costs thousands to repair.

This left Manic worried that the bizarre policy would cause his wife’s car to wear out faster and lead to expensive issues down the line.

The Sun has reached out to Toyota for comment.
