(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) reported on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26 that it was assisting the Falcon Fire Department with a fire on Meridian Road.
EPSO said at around 1 p.m. on Thursday deputies are helping the Falcon Fire Department with a fire on the 2600 block of County Line Road and Meridian Road in Elbert. The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) has also been requested to help battle the fire.
EPSO said via X (formerly known as Twitter), that motorists should avoid the area as East County Line Road to Meridian is closed.
At around 1:37 p.m., EPSO announced pre-evacuation notices had been given to residents along Meridian Road, south of East County Line Road, and north of Walker.
