Fans are dying to try 7UP’s limited-edition flavor – and nostalgic customers cant wait to ‘relive’ their childhoods

The childhood favorite is due to be released in stores in mid-October

In a viral Facebook post, blogger Markie, who describes himself as “the Willy freaking Wonka of Brooklyn,” shared his excitement over the launch.

“Anyone pretend to be an adult as a kid with Shirley Temples?” he asked his followers.

He revealed that the iconic drink, also known as a Roy Roger “for the boys,” will be readily available in stores in the coming weeks.

“7UP is launching a new Shirley Temple flavor,” Markie wrote in his post.

He explained that the canned drink will “feature pomegranate and cherry soda.”

This adds a new twist to the classic flavor, which usually consists of a lemon-lime soda and a splash of grenadine topped with a maraschino cherry.

Of course the childhood favorite can still be ordered in restaurants and bars but it is rarely found ready-to-go in cans or bottles.

Thanks to 7UP, fans of the drink can relive their glory days with a 12 ounce can or a two liter bottle.

The cans will also be available in a zero sugar version.

And just how long will shoppers have to wait to get their hands on the sweet drink?

“As of now, the estimated time of arrival is mid-October at all stores that carry the brand,” Markie revealed.

He also posted a teaser image of the highly anticipated product, showing both the full sugar and sugar-free versions.

Facebook users shared their thoughts on the announcement in the comments section.

“I remember going to a Mexican restaurant in Colorado with my grandparents and I drank a Shirley Temple! Virgin of course,” recalled one reader.

“I love Shirley Temple ever since I was a little girl. So I just make them myself. It’s not hard,” wrote another commenter.

When was the Shirley Temple invented?

According to 7UP, the nostalgic drink was first ordered by iconic child actress Shirley Temple while she was dining out in Hollywood.

Legend has it, the drink’s namesake was give the non-alcholic cocktail so she could feel as fancy as the adults drinking around her.

“I used to love getting a Shirley Temple, usually when I got to go watch my parents bowl,” said a third person.

“That brings back lots of childhood memories. I’ll definitely try the zero sugar one,” commented another Facebook user.

“I’m excited for this. Relive my childhood for sure!” wrote one commenter.

“I still pretend to be an adult,” joked another excited fan.

“Had my first Shirley Temple in a bar, thanks to my parents,” recalled one person.

“Looks sooooooo cool! I bet [it] will taste amazing!” commented another shopper.
