Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital (VBH) has been awarded four out of five stars for overall hospital quality by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This is the second year in a row that VBH has earned high marks from CMS for quality of care.
“To achieve four stars from CMS, and to do so back-to-back, is a testament to our clinicians and staff who deliver exemplary care to the community every day,” said Travis Capers, president of Vanderbilt Regional Community Hospitals. “Since Vanderbilt Health acquired the hospital back in 2021, we have put the health and safety of Bedford County residents above all else, and a big part of that has been continued investment into the resources and staff to provide a personalized and quality care experience,” said Capers.
CMS assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals each year based on 46 quality measures. The more stars a hospital receives, the better its performance is, based on the metrics CMS assesses. The quality measures used to evaluate each facility are broken down into five measure groups: Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmission, Patient Experience, and Timely & Effective Care.
“Our focus remains on enhancing patient outcomes by continuously supporting our clinical teams and ensuring they have the tools and resources necessary to deliver the best possible care,” said Angela Carter, chief nursing officer at VBH. “We are proud to provide access to critical services close to home and look forward to continuing to provide high-quality care to our neighbors in Bedford County.”
As part of the Vanderbilt Health community of hospitals and clinics, VBH is the only provider of inpatient medical services in Bedford County.
